Stay with us to experience a wide selection of activities for all ages and abilities in the great outdoors.
Walking
Ben Nevis and the Aonachs are well worth a walk. The “Ben” as it is affectionately known locally, has a footpath that will lead you to the highest peak in the British Isles. The forests around Achaderry Estate would keep you walking for weeks.
Canoeing & Kayaking
Climbing
The Highlands have some of the best climbing in Britain. For beginners and old hands alike, our roadside cragging and bouldering is the ideal complement to days spent on the mountains. For the person starting off in this fantastic sport there is the Ice Factor, an indoor training rock for all the family to learn on and practice their skills.
Golfing
What greater place could one have a round of golf in other than the home of the game, Scotland? Our nearest course is just 3 miles away. The scenery will captivate you as you play a 9-hole round under the watchful eye of the Nevis Mountains. Fort William has a fine 18-hole, 6,200-yard course in the foothills of Ben Nevis.
Paragliding
There’s no better place to enjoy the spectacular views of Achaderry Estate, Ben Nevis and beyond than from above. We must stress that we at Achaderry Estate does not organise this activity. It is organised in Glasgow. What you see here is paragliding at Achaderry Estate, The incredible views that paragliders are able to achieve are second to none.
Steam Train
This is a new page we have put in for the steam enthusiasts. We will give out information as we get it. There are a lot of steam activities in the Highlands, so it should be a good site for all interested in steam. Visit the West Coast Railways website for more information.
All the photos and videos that you will see on this site are taken by us and are in the Scottish Highlands.
Castles
There are a lot of castles in Scotland ranging from ruins to wonderfully preserved working castles. The later type generally act as museums. ‘Eilean Donan Castle’ is a good one to visit because of its dramatic setting. Fort William has its own castle ‘Inverlochy Castle’. Sadly it is ruins now, but well preserved. Take a look below to see some more information about the Castles.
